Through an analysis of how some migrant churches seek recognition within and interact with other forms of Christianity, this panel explores the capacity of African Christian diasporas to reconfigure the European religious heritage, influence local identities and establish international connections.

Uit de antropologische doos:

“Ik heb een vraag. U spreekt over verlangen. Daar ben ik ook mee bezig, met verlangen. Kunt u daar commentaar op geven?”

Het verband tussen narcisme en domheid is nog niet aangetoond. Vragen van het kaliber, hier heeft u 5 steekwoorden, daar kunt u vast wel wat mee. Het lijkt zo ondankbaar, maar je vraagt er dan ook zelf om. Wat zou een speech anders moeten zijn dan het rondpompen van theorie? Succes verzekerd wanneer je deze eerst op papier laat circuleren en vervolgens grotendeels letterlijk voorleest. En de gemeente luistert stil, een uur lang. We helpen je mee om de stilte in stand te houden. Hoe lang is de antropologische theorie nu al in crisis? “Wat u daar zegt lijkt wel erg veel op wat Foucault heeft beweerd.” Maar zo simpel mag het natuurlijk niet zijn. Liever weer een snippertje toegevoegd en weer iets verder terug de navel ingedaald. Als je nog bij bewustzijn bent, doet dat best pijn.

Jij draait je hand nergens voor om en geeft op alle mogelijke thema’s waar je weinig vanaf weet geen commentaar. Dat is reuze knap. Het kost wel tijd, maar we hebben er met z’n allen mee ingestemd. (Straks gaat iemand dit nog een ritueel noemen).

Ach, kon ik maar schrijven. Dan nam ik ontslag en dan zou ik de rest van mijn leven dit soort onzin bestrijden. De verlossing maken wij waarschijnlijk niet meer mee.
