    Thanks for this outstanding article!
As a Dutch Muslim convert I’m directly confronted with the negative effects of anti-Islamic Dutch politics. Although I still believe in the islamic ideal of the niqaab, namely preventing visual contact between man en women as to not distract/attract eachother and thereby encourages extra-marital affairs or disturb possible marital relations, it triggered such agressive negative reactions on the street, that I found it to be impossible to keep it up. The people on the street already took some of my liberty away to dress the way I prefer, and they feel highly strengthened by some of the Dutch politicians these days, who think they can express their personal believes in their role as politicians about how I should live my religious life.
