… CERT recommends that Explorer users consider other browsers that are not affected by the attack, such as Mozilla, Mozilla Firefox, Netscape and Opera. Mac, Linux and other non-Windows operating systems are immune from this attack. For people who continue to use the Internet Explorer, CERT and Microsoft recommend setting the browser’s security settings to “high,” but that can impair some browsing functions.

This is interesting: you can let Google search for definitions by adding “define:” to the word you want to define. I, for example, found this definition of schema with “define:schema”:

an internal representation of the world; an organization of concepts and actions that can be revised by new information about the world

Off topic: Why would I want to know about the definition of “schema”, you might wonder? That is because the people of religionresearch.org discussed the usefulness of the concept for understanding human, religious behaviour, see here. Very interesting, check it out, although it is for Dutch speakers only (sorry…)

Een ander interessant element van “Leidsche Rijn is meer dan stenen stapelen” was een lezing door Matthijs Uyterlinde. Deze socioloog werkt bij architectenbureau “de Architekten Cie”. (even terzijde: Uyterlinde vertelde mij na de lezing dat hij werkt op de onderzoeksafdeling van het bureau, in een interdisciplinair team van sociologen, antropologen, sociaal geografen en historici — lijkt mij razend interessant!) Zijn belangrijkste conclusie (tenminste, vond ik): weak ties (zwakke verbanden) zijn belangrijk voor een nieuwbouwwijk, misschien wel belangrijker dan sociale cohesie c.q. strong ties

Ik ben vorige week naar een bijeenkomst in Leidsche Rijn (LR) geweest over de leefbaarheid van LR, getiteld “Leidsche Rijn is meer dan stenen stapelen”. Een kleine 75 mensen die op verschillende wijzen te maken hadden met het onderwerp, ofwel omdat ze in LR werkten ofwel omdat ze op andere wijzen met een nieuwbouwwijk te maken hadden. Ik woonde daar een discussie bij over vrijwilligerswerk.
