‘Opwekking’ skips song 666
The songbook Opwekking, a popular collection of worship songs, which is used in many Dutch churches (from Pentecostal to mainline Protestant), has decided to skip song 666. The number 666, which according to the bible book Revelation is “the number of the beast”, was felt to be “too sensitive” for believers in the Opwekking target group. Some theologians have criticized this decision for being “superstitious”.
