Ummah for Earth – Women’s voices on climate change #iwd2022
Ummah 4 earth is an interesting initiative trying to raise awareness on global climate change from building on Muslim perspectives. It presents itself as “an alliance-led initiative, with the goal to empower Muslim communities who are facing crises” in which among others several Greenpeace regional affiliates, Islamic Relief and Eco-Islam work together.
It is our responsibility, as humans and as Muslims, to preserve the balance that God put in place and live in harmony with the environment that surrounds us. This is based on our belief that we are held responsible for the Earth and the life it contains as stewards and guardians.
Therefore, I pledge to Join Ummah for Earth alliance to work on finding sustainable solutions to restore the Earth’s balance and ensure living in prosperity, safety and health for all humanity on a balanced planet.
It is now time to build that world that we deserve!
On International Women’s Day 8 March 2022 several campaigns highlighted that women in particular are vulnerable to climate change and its effects. It therefore highlights the voices of Muslim women who fight for environmental justice:
Women are more likely to be affected by the impacts of the climate crisis and women are key to solving this crisis.
