M A A D: Muslims Against Advertising
A Muslim group targets poster nudity. That is the news in Britain today.
This story is updated! See below
A poster advertising the Channel 4 programme Desperate Housewives is the most recent target; the images of two scantily-clad actresses have been torn from an East London billboard but three fully-dressed characters were left intact. Adverts bearing Doves Real Women adverts six ordinary women pictured in their underwear were painted over at several locations last year.
On Direct Essays their is a essay from these people? I am not sure.
Muslims against Advertising
ELEVEN INHERENT RULES OF CORPORATE BEHAVIOR by Jerry Mander The following list is an attempt to articulate the obligatory rules by which corporations operate. Some of the rules overlap, but taken together they help reveal why corporations behave as they do and how they have come to dominate their environment and the human beings within it. The Profit Imperative: Profit is the ultimate measure of all corporate decisions. It takes precedence over community well-being, worker health, public health, peace, environmental preservation or national security. Corporations will even find ways to trade with national “enemies”Libya, Iran, the former Soviet Union, Cubawhen public policy abhors it. The profit imperative and the growth imperative are the most fundamental corporate drives; together they represent the corporation’s instinct to “live.” The Growth Imperative: Corporations live or die by whether they can sustain growth. On this depends relationships to investors, to the stock market, to banks and to public perception. The growth imperative also fuels the corporate desire to find and develop scarce resources in obscure parts of the world.
The have a sense of humor I think:
It says on its website that it believes in direct action and has paint and isnt afraid to use it, adding: There is no longer any need to cringe as you walk past a sleazy poster, well improve it.
And some might find this funny (and others not):
A spokesman said the poster would be extremely offensive to a Muslim man if he passed it on his way to prayers.
It is not only against nudity, the oppose also the Playstation America’s 10 most wanted with Bin Laden on the cover
But you should see it for yourself on No Adverts their website (if it is available).

And

MAAD fact #2
We don’t normally write this on joke websites, but people don’t get the fact that Muslims have a sense of humour so:
DON’T GET MAAD, THIS SITE IS NOT TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY
Hi martijn,
thanks for pointing out clearly the site is a joke. I cannot believe everyone took it seriously, the Times ran the story without even emailing MAAD to find out if it was true or not, as did the hundreds of news agencies around the world.
The world has gone truely maad. I’ve just realised how easy it is to feed UK institutions with ridiculous information as “intelligence”.
In a final act of irony, Yahoo “improved” the MAAD website by deleting it in the name of freedom of speech.
