The all-Russia conference �Islam against terrorism� will pass in the Russian capital

MOSCOW, June 3 (Itar-Tass) – The conference �Islam against terrorism� will pass in the Russian capital. The leaders of religious Islamic organizations will define prospects for racial and inter-religious cooperation in struggle against all forms of extremism and international terrorism.
According to chairman of the Russian Council of Muftis Ravil Gainutdin, �Russian Islamic organizations conduct a constant search for efficient mechanisms, permitting Moslems to occupy a worthy place in society�.
�Islam denounced any manifestations of terrorism and extremism,� he said in an interview with Tass. �Islam is a religion of peace, while Moslems have been always champions of peace and accord.� Gainutdin stated that �the leaders of religious Islamic organizations are ready to render assistance to the state in struggle against terrorism and extremism�.
Conference participants intend to discuss such topics as the position of Islam in Russia, terrorism � the main threat to peaceful relations between Islam and the Russian state as well as the Islamic world and the Russian state against terrorism. The forum plans to hammer out recommendations on drafting a consistent strategy of relations between Russia and the Islamic world.
The conference will be attended by representatives from the Russian president�s office and the Russian government, deputies of the both chambers of the Russian parliament, leaders of other confessions, representatives of cultural centers and non-government organizations, ambassadors from several Moslem countries and republics.
