And who said Lord of the Rings is a fairy tale? We just found the Hobbits!

“Scientists have discovered a new and tiny species of human that lived in Indonesia at the same time our own ancestors were colonising the world.

The new species – dubbed “the Hobbit” due to its small size – lived on Flores island until at least 12,000 years ago.

The fact that little people feature in the legends of modern Flores islanders suggests we might have to take tales of Leprechauns and Yeti more seriously.

Details of the sensational find are described in the journal Nature.

The whole idea that you need a particular brain size to do anything intelligent is completely blown away by this find “

“”No religion, no cultural norm says that is OK. It is a breach of human rights,” she told BBC Breakfast.” The official will be trained to both prevent forced emigrations and aid British citizens taken to Pakistan against their will.

However, Baroness Scotland said she wanted to emphasise “that these cases come from all cultures and all over the world”.

“We are going to protect all British citizens who are put in this position irrespective their religion, their faith, their ethnicity or their background,” she said

GOUDA | Wethouder Vermeij (VVD) wist niets af van de twintig extra parkeervergunningen die tijdens de ramadan zijn verstrekt aan de besturen van de moskee�n aan de Raam, (Nour), de Spieringstraat (El Fath) en de De Rijkestraat (Assalam).

Dat antwoordde de wethouder maandagavond tijdens de raadsvergadering op vragen van GBG’ster Wassenaar, die zij stelde naar aanleiding van een publicatie in de Goudsche Courant van afgelopen zaterdag.

GOUDA – De gratis parkeerontheffingen voor moskee�n in Gouda hebben tot enig tumult geleid in de Goudse gemeenteraad. De drie Marokkaanse moskee�n hebben van de gemeente extra parkeervergunningen gekregen. Moslims die slecht ter been zijn kunnen hiermee tijdens de ramadan hun auto gratis bij de moskee kwijt.
De fractie van Gemeentebelangen Gouda noemt dit ‘je reinste discriminatie’ en eist dat dit bij komende vastenmaanden niet meer gebeurt. Volgens raadslid Emmie Wassenaar hebben kerkgangers anders ook recht op een maand lang gratis parkeren.
Gemeentebelangen wijst erop dat iedereen een ontheffingskaartje kan kopen voor 65 eurocent. Wethouder Vermeij heeft toegezegd de zaak uit te zoeken, waarbij voor hem het gelijkheidsbeginsel telt.

Ze bezoeken de tentoonstelling �De hemelbestorming van Katholieken en Moslims� over de kritische ontvangst van kerken en moskee�n in Nederland. Het doel van de tentoonstelling is om het debat hierover historisch te benaderen. Door middel van onder andere maquettes, beelden, schilderijen en foto�s is de tentoonstelling in elkaar gezet.”

Kwaadwillende blikken zijn overal. Op alles wat erdoor wordt getroffen, rust ongeluk. Alles wat je in de oude stad koopt, gaat daarom snel in een zwart plastic tasje, zodat niemand het ziet. Het zou afgunst kunnen opwekken en de koopwaar bederven.
