Caring has no religion, ask this Jamaat chief in a Cuddalore corner
Caring has no religion, ask this Jamaat chief in a Cuddalore corner

In Cuddalore, the second hardest-hit town in Tamil Nadu when the killer waves came, a masjid and the local jamaat have emerged as the rallying point for thousands of fisherfolkalmost all of them Hindus and Christians. There are hardly any Muslim fishermen in Cuddalore, and most of the local Muslims are either traderswhich explains the Hindior have NRI sons in the Gulf. There have been no Muslim casualties.

We came to know when people came running to the masjid, minutes after it happened. We decided to do what we could do, says Mohammed Younus, president of the United Islamic Jamaat. Isme kya badi baath hai? he asks

Religion Research Islam Blog

In the country where Anne Frank was killed because she was jewish, history is repeating? According to Fox news it is. Dutch tolerance as a warning sign for the US; this is what you get when you become too tolerant. The Dutch are killing babies for having less fingers than they should have. Oh yes they allegedly even have ties with international terrorism, even all the way up to Osama Bin Laden himself.

You can view the newsevent via the link below. The comments are in Dutch but you will see fragments of Fox News mainly.

Daily Times – Site Edition
SECOND OPINION: The myth of Ijtihad Khaled Ahmeds TV Review

If the principle of doing ijtihad on the basis of the Quran was once allowed, then Allama Iqbals ijtihad on the Quranic injunction of qat-e-yadd (cutting of hands) in his Sixth Lecture should be accepted. Not accepting his effort has led us to a situation where we have sentenced people to it but have not been able to cut the hands of a single thief. And those Islamic states who have, have not benefited from the law either

The Journal of Turkish Weekly
Globalized Islam – Interview with Olivier Roy

In 2002, after years of work on political Islam, French scholar Olivier Roy published a major book on “globalized Islam”. A revised and updated version of this work has now been published in English.

According to Roy’s analysis, contemporary Islamic projects are becoming increasingly disconnected from a particular territory, partly as a consequence of the failure of all attempts to build an Islamic state. This means that trends are likely to move more and more toward an Islamization of individuals within the context of a global, de-territorialized ummah.
