There is some news on Jason W. one of the peopel who were arrested in the Hague a few weeks after the murder on Van Gogh. In his MSN-chatlogs there is a kind of death list.
PM, Nato boss ‘included on terror suspect’s death list’

The logs seem quite serious on the other hand they also contain some typical braggin’ and boasting.

Foreign Affairs – Whither Political Islam? – Mahmood Mamdani

Summary: Thinking of modern jihad as simply a cultural extension of Islam is a common, and unfortunate, mistake. Two new books by Gilles Kepel and Olivier Roy offer better historical and sociological explanations, but they are only a start.

Mahmood Mamdani is Herbert Lehman Professor of Government at Columbia University and the author of Good Muslim, Bad Muslim: America, the Cold War, and the Roots of Terror.

Aljazeera.Net – The risks of the al-Zarqawi myth

Aljazeera.Net – The risks of the al-Zarqawi myth
Al-Zarqawi was everywhere, his bombers striking in Mosul, Baghdad, Samarra, Najaf, Baquba, Ramadi and Falluja. Islamist websites published accounts of al-Zarqawi’s actions, and the western media, together with western intelligence services, ran with these stories, giving them credibility. The al-Zarqawi legend, if one can call it that, was born.

The problem is, there is simply no substance to this legend, as US marines are now finding out. Rather than extremist foreign fighters battling to the death, the marines are mostly finding local men from Falluja who are fighting to defend their city from what they view as an illegitimate occupier. The motivations of these fighters may well be anti-American, but they are Iraqi, not foreign, in origin.

SR.com: Terrorists raise cash online, expert says

Under cross-examination by defense attorney Chuck Peterson, Paz acknowledged that he has some of the same materials that were identified in court posted on his own Web site.

Those include The Intifada and the New Tartars, a searing anti-Israel lecture given by extremist Saudi Sheikh Safar Alhawali, for which Al-Hussayen helped arrange a three-hour live Internet broadcast. Paz said the lengthy anti-Jewish, anti-Israel and anti-American diatribe has since been published as a book.

I downloaded it from the Internet, from Alhawali’s Web site, he said.

But Paz said he posts extremist material, including graphic pictures he downloaded from an Islamist Web site, for use by researchers around the world not to advocate their content.

They do not appear here on Islamist Web sites, Paz said.

No, they appear on your Web site, Peterson responded. Yes, Paz said.

The Events of September 11 and the Arab Media: The New Antisemitic Myth

Posted on November 19th, 2004 by .
Categories: International Terrorism.

Special Report – No. 9

Since the release of MEMRI’s study – and regardless of the information accumulated about the identities of the perpetrators – officials, journalists, and religious leaders throughout the Arab and Muslim world have continued to claim that the perpetrators of the attacks (of 9/11) were not Arabs or Muslims. The claim that American and or Jewish/Israeli elements carried out the attacks has become an accepted, albeit false, and common myth in the Arab world, to the point that U.S. President George W. Bush and Secretary of State Colin Powell have been accused of masterminding the attacks.

This updated report, which is based on research compiled over the past five months, reveals another trend that has emerged in the Arab media whereby Arab writers have begun to base their fictitious allegations on the widely discredited “research” of Western sources such as former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke and Holocaust denier Roger Garaudy. The apparent intent of the Arab writers is to add credibility to their false allegations by relying on Western sources whose claims they erroneously believe will be readily accepted by a Western audience.

Suicide bombings. Assassinations. The wholesale murder of prisoners. The mass slaughter of 9/11. Videotaped beheadings and the execution studios recently discovered in Fallujah. We describe it as ”Islamic terrorism.”

Four accused of plotting terror attacks in Holland

“AMSTERDAM Dutch authorities arrested four suspects in July on suspicion they were planning terror attacks in the Netherlands, it was reported Monday.

The suspects are reportedly a Surinamese Dutch national, a Somali, a Saudi Arabian and a man on unknown nationality, the lawyer of the Dutch suspect said.

The four suspects were arrested on 30 July in Rotterdam and are the same suspects that Justice Minister Piet Hein Donner referred to on Sunday in announcing the arrests. “
