A new study conducted by the German Institute for Middle East Studies examines the difficult relationship between the Islamic world and the West since the 11 September attacks. The results are sobering: generally speaking, the study noted an increasing return to religious-cultural values in the Islamic world as a defensive reaction to the politics of the West. Sigrid Faath outlines some of the study�s key findings.
